Dan Carter is a Volunteer assistant coach at
the University of Dallas, having just completed his 4th
year with the prog
ram.
Primarily in charge of pitchers and catchers his first 3 years, he helped the
pitching staff lower the team ERA by a run a game in each of the first 3 years.
The past year his main responsibility was with the hitters on
a team that had a roster of only 9 full time players, 4 of which had no softball
experience. The team hit a respectable .247. The 5 players with softball
experience hit a combined .321 with a slugging pct of .454 and an OBP of .406.
Dan has 21 years experience giving private pitching lessons
in the DFW area, having helped numerous girls reach their goals of pitching at
the collegiate level. He has 30 years experience as a Select fastpitch coach in
the area having led his teams to top 10 finishes at ASA nationals in 3 different
age groups from 12U to 18U.
Dan is a student of the game as well as an instructor and is
constantly looking to improve his methods and is not afraid to change the way he
does things. The game evolves and he believes that every coach should be willing
to adapt as well.
Dan focuses on efficiency of movement and getting the most
out of each students particular body type and skills. He does not believe in
taking shortcuts. He believes that each kid should be taught the mechanics that
will lead to success at the highest levels the student wishes to attain. Success
in the long term is the goal.
