Dan Carter

Dan Carter is a Volunteer assistant coach at the University of Dallas, having just completed his 4th year with the program. Primarily in charge of pitchers and catchers his first 3 years, he helped the pitching staff lower the team ERA by a run a game in each of the first 3 years.

 

The past year his main responsibility was with the hitters on a team that had a roster of only 9 full time players, 4 of which had no softball experience. The team hit a respectable .247. The 5 players with softball experience hit a combined .321 with a slugging pct of .454 and an OBP of .406.

 

Dan has 21 years experience giving private pitching lessons in the DFW area, having helped numerous girls reach their goals of pitching at the collegiate level. He has 30 years experience as a Select fastpitch coach in the area having led his teams to top 10 finishes at ASA nationals in 3 different age groups from 12U to 18U.

 

Dan is a student of the game as well as an instructor and is constantly looking to improve his methods and is not afraid to change the way he does things. The game evolves and he believes that every coach should be willing to adapt as well.

 

Dan focuses on efficiency of movement and getting the most out of each students particular body type and skills. He does not believe in taking shortcuts. He believes that each kid should be taught the mechanics that will lead to success at the highest levels the student wishes to attain. Success in the long term is the goal.
