Mark Braddock

Mark Braddock has 12 years experience teaching softball pitching to ages 7-23. He has taken very young students and developed them into successful high school and college scholarship pitchers. His pitchers have earned full-rides to UT Longhorns, OU Sooners, Texas Tech, just to name a few.

Back in his select team coaching days, (1024 wins / 279 losses), Mark led his very successful Texas Sox (sponsored by Worth) to the first ever 16U ISF World Cup (2001) and played China!

Mark is known for increasing pitching speed and developing the movement pitches in a mechanically sound way. He is big on the mental game and the cool confidence it brings to his students.

He is a determined student of the game. As the game of fastpitch keeps getting better, he doesn't want his students to be left behind with old traditional teaching. Using a high-speed camera, radar gun and open mind, he stays on the cutting edge of discovery. This has helped him get smaller framed girls to throw faster and more effectively. Just last year he invented the "Braddock Pitching Beam", patent pending, which is in it's sixth model. Dozens sold and used for footwork at home.

Mark teaches with a focus that's flexible and need oriented. Rather than the cookie cutter approach, he knows each pitcher is unique in history, personality, gifts and dreams. Yes, there are basic physics to cracking an arm whip and women are not men in body shape or temperament. That's very important and often forgotten. Yet, there are all kinds of starting points depending on the student. It's always about understanding the student.
Each student is different.

Mark is a good listener and encourages questions like "why?" or "how?" He wants the parent involved in the lesson, because they'll be around her all the time. His goal is to get the pitcher to make adjustments herself. Leads to more fun. Finally, he wants the lessons to be fun, interesting and engaging. It's fun to joke around and laugh, and it's fun to set goals and set out to reach them. There is a balance there. He keeps a progress notebook for most of his students. He doesn't hesitate to give written homework Stickys, having the student sign off with Mark keeping a carbon copy for the next lesson. Accountability gets you somewhere. You'll find him photo-shooting and radar gunning his pitchers at games and tournaments - reviewing the results at the next lesson. You can see why he has little turnover among his students.

Mark has been married to Cindy for 35 years and has 5 daughters, 2 sons and 5 grandkids. They have trained him well!
